RAPID ASSESSMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND ECONOMIC VALUES OF MONGOLIA’S SAXUAL FOREST

UN-REDD Mongolia National Programme is looking at the economic and ecological role of the Saxaul forests in Mongolia.  Preliminary results of the study by National Consultants team on 8th December 2017. Saxaul forests are dry woodland ecosystem that are important for non-timber forest products, ecosystem services, such as oasis protection and preventing further land degradation and desertification. The REDD+ in Mongolia will aim to develop policies and measures for improved management as part of the country’s national strategy to tackle forests and climate change in Mongolia.
